Purpose. Metaphors generally function to give us a new insight and deeper understanding, or to move our hearts and give us courage, or to strengthens our will that we would act as we know we should. They are ‘just-like’ statements that use our familiarity and understanding of one thing to better understand another. Word pictures such as Jesus' parables do that by referring to physical aspects of our lives and using them to make a point and teach a concept. Jesus told parables to clarify the gospel of his love, to describe His nature and will. God’s work of creation holds similar power to teach us about the nature of the Creator himself.

None of the images and ideas in this series are particularly unusual in their originality. As just one artist among many I have no monopoly on metaphorical insight. |
