Anderson, N. & Miller, R. (1997). Leading teens to freedom in
Christ: how to win the battle for our young people. Ventura,CA: Regal
Books.
The authors share from their experience what they have learned about helping
young people find freedom in Christ. They describe a counseling process
that is called ‘Steps to freedom in Christ”. They also discus tough issues
in counseling youth - abuse, occult bondage, eating disorders and rebellion.
The central aim of the book is to bring hope to hurting young people.
Who
they need is Christ, what they need is for adults to be a light
to point them to Christ.
Some of the major conclusions are that young people’s conflicts usually
relate to spiritual powers; confusion over deceit and truth; struggles
over bitterness and forgiveness; problems of rebellion and pride; bondage
to compulsive behaviours; problems brought on by genetics and environment.
A weakness of this book may be the strong emphasis on spiritual warfare
and on the attention to the role of demons and spirits.
